What is a Breatherapy tab?

It is a patented device that, when placed in the upper chest area near the nose, harnesses the power of aromatherapy through inhaling essential oil vapor. This patch is unique as the healing molecules enter the body entirely by inhalation. It is NOT transdermal, meaning that no elements of the oils enter the skin.

How do Breatherapy tabs work?

Each pre-filled Breatherapy tab contains essential oils and each oil has unique benefits for your health. When placed near the nose, the aromatherapy vapors are easily inhaled and provide a therapeutic experience. Because Breatherapy tabs do not allow any essential oils to come into contact with the skin, they are the safest aromatherapy product on the market.

How do Aromatherapy & Essential Oils Work?

Linda Halcón PhD, MPH, RN, a retired Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and member of the University’s Center for Spirituality and Healing and the Center for Child and Family Health Promotion Research, explains aromatherapy as follows: “When we inhale through the nose, airborne molecules interact with the olfactory organs and almost immediately, the brain . . . The limbic part of the brain is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance (Higley & Higley, 1998). Knowing this, we can hypothesize how inhalation of essential oils can have some very profound physiological and psychological effects!”

How do I use the tabs?

1. Open the pouch and remove the tab.

2. Find the top layer and peel it off while holding down the bottom layer.

3. Remove the Breatherapy tab from the clear liner and apply the adhesive side to your skin or clothing. For most effective use, place it on the upper chest area.

4. Make sure to remove body lotions or oils where the tab is applied.

Do they have to be placed on the skin or can I place them on fabric, such as a mask?

The tabs were designed to be placed on skin or clothing, so placing on the outside of your mask is perfectly fine.

How close does the patch need to be to your nose to work?

This can vary person to person depending on sensitivity level. We suggest placing it on the upper chest directly below your nose.

Is the tab still working if I can’t smell it?

While it’s important to have the tab near enough to your nose so that you’re breathing the vapors, the tab is still working even if you aren’t actively smelling it. Try bringing it closer to your nose if you feel the need to.

What happens to my skin?

• The only thing that touches your skin is the hypoallergenic hydrogel adhesive, which is scientifically proven to be non-irritating to even very sensitive skin.

• The tab is both easy and painless to remove and will not pull your hair.

Is anything absorbed into my skin?

• No, the Breatherapy tab is designed specifically to prevent any oil touching, or being absorbed into the skin.

• The only thing that touches your skin is the hypoallergenic hydrogel adhesive, which has extensive dermal testing. It has been proven to be non irritating even on very sensitive skin.

• The tab is easy and painless to remove and will not pull strongly on any hair that may be attached to the hydrogel.

Can allergric reactions occur?

People are allergic to a number of things and the potential for an allergic reaction to the oils is possible. If an alergic reaction does occur, please remove the tab and stop using it. Our medical grade hypoallergenic adhesive has gone through all the derma and biocompatiblity testing and should not cause an allergic reaction.

Will the tab leave any residue on my clothing or skin?

The adhesive from the tab removes cleanly from skin and in most cases, also from clothing. The adhesive is water-based and would be removed in the wash.

Are the oils ethically sourced?

All of our oils are ethically sourced and we take great care in choosing oils that are not rare so they do not have the chance of extinction due to over harvesting.

Where do the plants grow that produce the oil?

Many of the plants that produce the oils grow in one particular area of the world, but are grown all over the world.

Is this product organic?

All of our oils are checked with a gas chromatorgraph, but the designation of the word "organic" can mean many things in today's world. We use only pure, naturally grown and harvested essential oils.

Is it safe to sleep with the patch on?

Yes, however moving in your bed may potentially dislodge the tab.

Is it safe for children to use?

It is safe for children 4 years up and children under 4 may need supervision. The tab has the potential to become a choking hazard, so supervision is recommended with young kids.

Can I use this with my pets?

We would recommend not using essential oils for your pets (particularly cats) as it could be possible to cause your pet friends harm.

Is it possible to overdose with aromatherapy?

Because our aromatherapy tabs are inhalation based it would be nearly impossible to "overdose" using them. Likely, a headache would be the worst of outcomes and would be resolved by simply removing the tab.

Do I need a doctor's permission?

You do not need a doctor's permission to use a Breatherapy tab.

Are Breatherapy tabs safe in the washing machine?

We highly encourage the removal of our patches from clothing before they go through the wash. Our adhesive is water soluble and may leave residue on clothing if washed. All residue is easily removed with water and a second washing should leave clothing fully clean.

Are the patches reusable?

Our tabs offer the best experience when first opened, so we do not recommend reusing them.

What is the shelf life?

The shelf-life is one year from date of manufacture.

What does the expiraton date indicate on the individual sachets/packets?

This is a best used-by date. We want the user to have the freshest experience possible, so we include this date to ensure that things smell as nice as possible. There is no danger in using older patches, but they may not adhere as well or smell quite the same.
