Tips for Travel Wellness
Some of life is opening back up which means there are more opportunities to travel. Venturing beyond your close quarters after a time can present new challenges to your health. We have 6 tips for staying healthy during travel.
1. Sleep
Prepare your body for wellness with restful sleep before (and after!) a vacation or trip. Sleep is a healer.
2. Hydrate.
Water is the easiest way to purify your body. If traveling by air, bring your own water bottle and keep it filled. Trips to the restroom may be more frequent, but getting up from your seat to move your body is another way to remain well.
3. Ease.
Ease into travel and be aware of introducing new or different foods. An upset stomach on a vacation turns what should have been restful into something negative.
4. Stretch.
Never included stretching in your regular routine? Travel is often the best time to start a new wellness habit. Without your regular schedule, there is time to introduce something like stretching. You don't need spandex, you just need a minute or two to take inventory spending a moment on each part of your body from your head to your heels.
5. Breathe.
There is so much available health in a simple breathing exercise. Breathing with intention can ease travel anxiety, relax the body, prepare the mind and help establish gratitude for the ability to travel.
6. Observe.
Might seem odd to do, but being an observer during travel can be good for your health. Observing necessarily means being watchful and noticing what's going on around you. Taking in sights, sounds and being aware not only can connect you to a place but can ground you and help you focus.
